By A Thread, a clothing boutique for women that also sells accessories and home decor, recently moved to State College. Previously located on High Street and then on West Bishop Street in Bellefonte, the business gains new opportunities from the move, said owner Emily Boone.
“The location being right on Atherton allows us more visibility to traffic in and out of Happy Valley, easier access for customers with limited time in their schedule and more ability to attract employees from the State College area,” Boone explained.
Additionally, Boone noted that the move to 1341 S. Atherton St. gets her “closer to home.”
By A Thread aims to offer a curated selection and, according to its website, prioritizes quality over quantity and prides itself in being a “lifestyle boutique.”
Boone first opened her physical store in Bellefonte during the COVID-19 pandemic after previously selling selected pieces at pop-ups.
“We loved being part of the Bellefonte community for four years,” Boone said. “As our customer base grew, we started getting regular feedback that access to our location was challenging at times with only one parking lot. We began searching for a space where we could alleviate those concerns while continuing to grow our brand and store size.”
The move was made official on Saturday, Aug. 31, in the space that was formerly home to AJ Fine’s Sample Sale.
“I’m looking forward to being in a space where we can continue to serve our current client base while being more accessible to a new market as well. We cater our brand to ladies who are looking for effortless and approachable pieces while still being curated and unique,” Boone highlighted. “Empowering women who want to dress in a way that they feel confident and comfortable is our ultimate goal. Based on our current clientele, we know there is a demand for the style of products we carry in the State College community and are excited to offer our styling assistance to even more ladies.”
By A Thread’s new location is at 1341 S. Atherton St., Suite 8, State College. The ship is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and closed from Sunday through Tuesday. More information can be found at byathreadboutique.com.
