The next iteration of a Bellefonte-based women’s clothing store now has an opening date for its new home.

Lock Boutique will officially unveil its downtown State College shop with a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14. The boutique’s move to State College coincides with the closure of its Bellefonte location.

Lock Boutique is moving in at 216 E. College Ave. in the former location of Ethereal Boutique, which closed at the end of the year after four years in business. Owner Miranda Sheetz said she was closing the store before taking it west as she moves to Indianapolis.

Lock Boutique’s grand opening celebration is themed after Galentine’s Day, a nonofficial holiday through which “ladies celebrate ladies.” Galentine’s Day, traditionally celebrated annually on Feb. 13, originated as an alternative to Valentine’s day in a 2010 episode of “Parks and Recreation.”

Store employees have worked to remodel some portions of Lock Boutique’s new home, according to social media posts, including pink decor and new exterior flower baskets. “Coming soon” signs are currently posted in the storefront’s windows.

The new store in State College should help Lock Boutique expand its offerings as it consolidates with its sister store, Lock Bridal.

While regular hours are not yet available, Lock Boutique is currently operating under a soft opening. The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Tuesday, Jan. 10 through Friday, Jan. 13, as well as from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, according to an Instagram post.
