Penn State Lands Commitment From Class of 2027 4-Star Cornerback

Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class continues to gain steam in the early stages.

The Nittany Lions landed a commitment on Monday from four-star cornerback Gabe Jenkins out of Pittsburgh. Jenkins ranks as the No. 8 Pennsylvania native, No. 19 cornerback and No. 191 overall prospect in the class, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

He hails from Imani Christian Academy, which has developed into a Penn State pipeline in recent seasons, producing freshman defensive end Dayshaun Burnett and class of 2026 commit David Davis.

The addition of Jenkins maintains Penn State’s status as the No.1 recruiting class in the country, which the team has held for most of the year.

Jenkins joins 5-star running back Kemon Spell, 5-star offensive tackle Layton Von Brandt and 4-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor in the class. Spell and Taylor rank as the No. 1 and No. 4 in-state prospects, while Von Brandt is the top Delaware recruit.

Though it’s early in the cycle, the Nittany Lions are off to a strong start and could piece together one of the top recruiting classes of James Franklin’s tenure in Happy Valley.
